Hachiman

First, the deity of Usa Hachiman Shrine comes on stage and makes himself known. He says that he must defeat the enemy from abroad. He fights with his magical arrow and wins.

This kagura play expresses praise for a deity called Hachiman who had been thought as the tutelary deity of warriors.　There are many Hachiman Shrines in Japan. Now he is worshiped as a tutelary deity of the land.
