This kagura (a ritual performing art) expresses praise for the goddess of Hinomisaki.A demon flew to Japan, conspired to make this country into his kingdom and expelled people from their land. The goddess Jura-setsunyo, who lived on Mt. Wanibuchi in Shimane prefecture, caught wind of the demon’s plan and came to rescue the people. She fought a battle against the demon to expel him from Japan.
Her dance is graceful, yet forceful and imperious which gives her the power to expel the demon.
At first, she hides her armor under a gorgeous gown, but later, she takes off her gown and fights as a goddess warrior.
