Yorimasa
The 73rd Emperor Horikawa (1087-1108) had been sick because of an eerie
monster, Nue, which appeared in the palace every midnight.
The Nue had a monkey’s head, tiger’s feet, an ox’s body and a snake-like tail. When it appeared, the moon and stars hid behind dark clouds and a weird darkness dominated the palace.
A brave samurai, Minamoto-no-Yorimasa was ordered to wipe out the monster.
Thereafter he and his dog, Ino-hayata, defeated it.
